Product Information

The driveshaft center bearing and flex disc are the two most common failure points on the rear driveshaft. A worn out center bearing or flex disc can cause vibration, noise, and a clunking sound when the accelerator is depressed. By replacing the entire driveshaft assembly, you eliminate the time and added complexity of replacing the flex disc and center bearing separately.

This kit includes the rear driveshaft with flex disc and all of the mounting hardware for a full and complete installation.

Drive Shaft Assembly

A driveshaft is a rotating metal shaft that transmits power from the transmission to the rear wheels in a vehicle, and signs of a failing driveshaft include: noticeable vibrations while driving, shuddering when accelerating, loud clicking or clunking noises, squeaking sounds, and difficulty turning, often accompanied by shaking coming from underneath the car; all of which are usually caused by worn-out U-joints or center bearing issues within the driveshaft assembly.

Drive Shaft Assembly Failure Symptoms
  • Vibrations: This is the most common sign of a failing driveshaft, often felt as a shaking sensation while driving, especially at higher speeds
  • Shuddering upon acceleration: When accelerating from a stop, the car may jerk or shudder due to a damaged driveshaft struggling to deliver smooth power
  • Noises: Clicking, clunking, squeaking, or rattling sounds coming from the drivetrain area can indicate worn components within the driveshaft

It’s a new version of the one that came off my truck. Common issue for the 955 and 957. The carrier bushing wears out. I don’t like calling it a bushing. Really wish Porsche made an update but the original one lasted about 70k‍♂️. The rest of the driveshaft was fine but the bushing was gone. I’m keeping my old driveshaft with the zip tie hack. It got me home.
