Product Information

The driveshaft center bearing and flex disc are the two most common failure points on the rear driveshaft. A worn out center bearing or flex disc can cause vibration, noise, and a clunking sound when the accelerator is depressed. By replacing the entire driveshaft assembly, you eliminate the time and added complexity of replacing the flex disc and center bearing separately.

Drive Shaft Assembly

A driveshaft is a rotating metal shaft that transmits power from the transmission to the rear wheels in a vehicle, and signs of a failing driveshaft include: noticeable vibrations while driving, shuddering when accelerating, loud clicking or clunking noises, squeaking sounds, and difficulty turning, often accompanied by shaking coming from underneath the car; all of which are usually caused by worn-out U-joints or center bearing issues within the driveshaft assembly.

Drive Shaft Assembly Failure Symptoms
  • Vibrations: This is the most common sign of a failing driveshaft, often felt as a shaking sensation while driving, especially at higher speeds
  • Shuddering upon acceleration: When accelerating from a stop, the car may jerk or shudder due to a damaged driveshaft struggling to deliver smooth power
  • Noises: Clicking, clunking, squeaking, or rattling sounds coming from the drivetrain area can indicate worn components within the driveshaft

Drive shaft Replacement
I have put on about 6000 miles on this driveshaft and it has been great, I was a bet skeptical but needed to save money on this part compared to the OEM VW one.

Thank you!
I am so glad I found FCP Euro for Volkswagen parts! I need to replace my center bearing but decided to just replace the whole driveshaft. FCP had everything I needed at a great price and it arrived FAST!!! Also, because I was panicking about my car, idiotically I didn't think about the amount of hardware I would need for the project and needed to add more. I called and spoke with Tanner and he fixed the issue quickly and I have everything I need to get this started today! THANK YOU! I'm a customer for life (because that seriously is how long I plan on having this VW!).

This part was a perfect fit and solved the noise and vibration issues I was having with the original driveshaft.

Questions & Answers

Ask a question
Question Posted by a customer
My 2010 VW Touareg is a V6 3.6l On this part is shows VR6 what does this mean?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Your 3.6L engine is a VR6. It's called a VR6 because of the narrow-angle between the cylinder banks and the fact that the engine uses one cylinder head to cover both banks of cylinders.
