If you are installing a new supercharger this gasket will need to be replaced. Failure to do so can result in a vacuum leak which will cause lean running conditions and misfires.

2006 Mini Cooper S (R53)
Can be a bit of a pain to get everything seated back in place onto this gasket but that’s just because it does such a good job and making a tight seal. Almost 3 years later and all is well!

I can see why they say this is a must replace item, if taking things apart. The old one was hard as a rock, and the fitment of the plastic duct to the super charging housing is so... flimsy - this seal more than earns it keep.

Necessary gasket for supercharger replacement.
This is the seal to the supercharger inlet from the plastic pipe to which the throttle body attaches on the other end. 50 miles since my repair and it seems to seal just fine. Nice, pliable rubber compared to the dry, brittle rubber I took out.

Is this the gasket for the inlet and outlet of the intercooler (2 required if removing the intercooler)?

This gasket seals the inlet pipe to the supercharger. The gasket that seals the outlet portion of the supercharger for the pipe to the intercooler is p/n 17511520044.
