Mercedes 722.9 Transmission Service Kit - Fuchs 7229LATE

The transmission oil pan gasket leaked probably close to a quart overnight. I wiped everything down to inspected the gasket, bolts and plug. Other than an obvious leak, I could not find anything unusual. I removed the pan so I could remove the gasket and inspect it and It looked fine. I wound up purchasing the OEM gasket, bolts and more transmission fluid to do the job again. It's been about a week and a couple hundred miles or so and it's been fine. Having to replace the faulty gasket, one time use bolts and wasted fluid cost me about $100 and FCP won't really do anything for me since I didn't take a picture of the leak. I tried calling when I discovered the leak, but there is nobody to answer calls on weekends. My focused was to get my car back on the road and not document a failure due to a crappy part. I purchased parts from FCP to replace the faulty parts two days after the faulty parts were delivered, but that wasn't enough evidence to prove the part was faulty. The only thing I was offered was a lifetime guarantee return. The problem with that is purchasing the exact same part is required. For some parts I went with OEM since I didn't trust the aftermarket parts. The next issue is that the lifetime guarantee return requires me to pay for return shipping which is expensive due to size and weight. So out of the roughly $100 it cost me to do the job again minus return shipping and non returnable parts I'd receive about a $7 refund. I gave these parts and experience one star because that is the lowest rating allowed, but in reality this deserves zero stars.

This is the perfect set for everything to do the transmission service. Works and fits great.

Great kit and absolutely necessary every 45-50k miles for a 722.9 equipped vehicle. 722.9 trans fluid level set procedure is a bad joke where owners are in the punchline.

By Mercedes WIS, you are supposed to drain the torque converter as part off the transmission service. Good idea as the torque converter holds an additional 2l of fluid, and Mercedes makes it pretty easy to drain. FCP sells the part and it is cheap...should have been included. Here is the part number: Mercedes 0019901117

This particular Transmission Service kit does not come with a new transmision pan filler plug, as does the Mercedes kit and several others. If you are working on the original "lifetime" trsansmission, the filler plug (alloy) was torqued down by a gorilla and will most likely be stripped by your T30 socket, requiring drilling and an easy out. Order a new filler plug before doing work or buy another brand that comes with a new plug. Everything else seems to be OK.

This kit helped so much it doesn't make any sense. The dealership was trying to charge me $5,000 for a torque converter because my RPMs were bouncing which of course is a symptom of a bad torq converter but what they didnt tell me is that once these damn things hit 100k miles they all do it cause its time for fresh fluid. Did the flush my self after ordering the specialty tools and boom no more tac jumping problems. Now she drives like a dream again.

Kit gave me everything I needed to perform this seemingly tough task and made it a breeze. Will purchase again at my next 70k service interval. Highly recommend and saved me about $500 from taking it to Mercedes and having them do it.

My order was split up. The first shipment arrived on time at the right location. The second shipment was 5 days late and also was delivered to the wrong address. The team hasnt followed up with me in over 2 weeks. Be prepared to partake in the shipment process as you will need to investiagte and finish the delivery yourself if yuo want the items you paid for. Apparently, the agreement for products + shipment in exchange for money is NOT upheld by FCPEuro.

My old fluid looked nasty and I did not know when it was changed my 2011 E350 4Matic has 131k miles. I bought a pump so I can transfer the fluid into the transmission. The car shifts buttery smooth and doesn't make any noise.
