About Liqui Moly

All LIQUI MOLY products are created by close solidarity with the automotive, two-wheel and commercial vehicle industry. That's why Liqui Moly solutions are always on par with state-of-the-art technologies and sometimes even a good distance ahead. The recipes for LIQUI MOLY high-tech products are largely based on our own developments, that we continuously test and develop. The LIQUI MOLY full range, with more than 4,000 products, offers you lubricants, additives, car care products and chemical repair tools with integrated use guarantee.

LIQUI MOLY offers the matching motor oil for every vehicle in the world. Liqui Moly engine oils have a variety of approvals by German and overseas car manufacturers or fulfill the requirements of the producers. And, even here, there are still differences: A manufacturer approval means that the oil fulfills certain minimum requirements. But LIQUI MOLY goes beyond those requirements and develop oils that, for example, have a higher cleaning performance than what is required by the manufacturer.

Every mile driven costs a tiny bit of engine longevity. The reason: Friction and wear. A creeping process, that is often accelerated by poor fuel quality and deposits of old lubricants. However, regular maintenance of the oil and fuel circuit can usually restore engine performance to its original level. Without much effort, but with a great deal of effect. When it comes to gear oil a similar thing can be said.

The fact that LIQUI MOLY products shine, and, with a high level of innovation, deliver what they promise, is confirmed again and again by independent testing institutions, in which we regularly pass with flying colors. Approvals by the automotive industry and the fulfilling of the highest specifications are also a matter of course.

Mercedes Tech recommended
Had an oil filter housing replaced on an 07' M272 due to leak. Tech said to use this on high mileage/older vehicles and that it helps plump up seals and prevent leaks. Follow directions about oil capacity.

Saved me from dropping my subframe and removing my v12 heads.
Put two or three bottles of this into my m275 v12 in hopes of lessening a bad leak. Had to add a liter every 2-300 miles. Oil was leaking from a turbo oil return o-ring, oil thermostat (huge PITA to get to), and an o-ring at the back of the engine nestled below both engine heads (if you watched LSC's CL65 engine rebuild you know the one). That would have been an engine out, heads-off job to replace. Fastest drip was every 8 seconds or so, pretty bad... there were drips from multiple locations. Put 2 or 3 bottles of this into the engine's ~10L of oil, and drove for about 400 miles. Parked the car running on pavement to watch for new drips, there was a SINGLE DROP after 10 minutes!!! Good enough for me, saved me a huge time expenditure. Will drive another couple hundred miles then change oil. If it makes the rocker cover seals drip I don't care, those are way easier to deal with than the above leaks. Used to similar success with a leaking oil pump pickup o-ring on my 2005 tahoe, brought oil pressure back up to 40-50PSI when warm, from a constant 15-20PSI.

Motor Oil Saver
I use this for every oil change on the BMW X5 E70 with the N62 engine. Valve steam seals were already replaced. It's just a nice conditioning maintenance item to add to every oil change.

Buying time
I've used this product and it works wonders, I have a Volvo 240 with over 440k miles and a Subaru with 200k miles. Both cars had a rod knock, not to aggressive and when I started using Motor oil saver the knock went away I also use 5-40 liqui moly motor oil and that combination is holding things for a little longer or until I find the time to pull those engine and do a refresh. I recommend it.

RIP valve stems. This helps reduce the blue smoke when accelerating from a stop. This is not a permanent fix but has helped reduce the smoke from tail pipes.

Great LiquiMoly product
I use 2 cans of this with 8 quarts oil occasionally in my N62TU to condition the valve guide seals. A secondary effect of this is it is a powerful carbon cleaner! It will clean the varnish and carbon out of the piston rings, lifters. chain tensioners... Liquimoly may not even know this. My oil change is black as ink after 6000 miles using this. Motor Oil Saver, the name fits well.

This product actually works for leaky old BMW gaskets and seals!
I would have never believed that it would do what it said, but this product did eliminate the smoke from worn valve stem seals and leaking valve cover gasket on an 159k BMW N62 engine! It also stopped a valve cover gasket leak on my BMW 142k N57 Diesel. Valve guide seals repair on the N62 is no joke and the N57 valve cover gasket requires removal of the injectors that is a very VERY risky on an old engine and they break frequently, set of those cost 1k. While this totally just differs the repair eventually those valve guide seals will give out I cam out it off until it really needs it. I do oil analysis and so far no bad results from using this so I do not see a reason not to use it with caution. Also this Motor Saver product is apparently similar to AT-205 though weaker according to project farm. I ran 1 can in the N62 and did work over the course of a month 2nd can really worked and it even passed emissions inspection. This is risky as too much of this kind of product I could totally see turning your rock hard seals to goo so use caution! Went back to 1 can on the next oil change and so far seems to be working. Definitly recommended if you are going to have to tear apart your engine anyway.

Question Posted by a customer
Can I use this with my 2018 BMW M4 with a DCT? And if I can, how much cans do I use? My oil is liqui moly 5w40.
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Yes you can, one can would be sufficient for this application.
Question Posted by Ram
I have what appears to be a minor RMS leak on my 2016 BMW 340i with a B58 engine and plan to add some Motor Oil Saver. However, I'm reading differing views on when Motor Oil Saver should be added to the engine. Some stating it should be added to old oil about 400-600 miles prior to an oil change and others stating it should be added to fresh oil at the time of the oil change. Are there benefits to one over the other and what is the most effective way to go about this? Also, if I am not wrong, the engine oil capacity is 6.5L for the 1st gen B58 engine. Am I right in assuming that I will need to use about 1.5 cans of motor oil saver for best results?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Liqui Moly Motor Oil Saver can be added at any time, but for the best use of the product I would add it with fresh oil at the oil change. It takes roughly 400–500 miles to start affecting the seals, so adding it right before an oil change would work, but you would be draining it out just as it begins to do its job. You are correct that the 2016 340i B58 oil capacity is about 6.5 liters with filter. Since one 300 ml can treats up to 5 liters, use one full can plus roughly one-third of a second can; do not add a full two cans. Also make sure the additive volume is included in the total oil fill so the engine is not overfilled.
Question Posted by a customer
I have a mk7 gti that my mechanic says needs a valve cover reseal due to oil sweating on the upper timing chain cover. I'm not burning oil and there are no oil leaks. Will this product work to fix or slow down this issue. The cost of a re-seal is very expensive.
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
This may slow down the issue, but will not resolve it.
Question Posted by Ryan
Just to officially settle the range of similar questions here about the "not for use in automatic transmission " warning here. I believe the message is that you should not add this fluid to your Automatic Transmission Fluid but it is ok and designed to be used as an additive to the Engine Oil of a car regardless of it comes equipped with an automatic or manual transmission. Can we officially confirm this and maybe edit the disclaimer so it's clear??
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
You are correct - the statement "Not suitable for use in automatic transmissions" indicates that the product is "Not suitable for use in automatic transmissions", it is not a statement on the type of transmission that the intended use vehicle has. I have updated the listing to indicate more clearly this product is for engine oil. Thanks!
Question Posted by Qian
Q1: does this need to be added right after new oil, or can be added anytime in between changes? Q2: is this also compatible with MoS2? asking because right now I have MoS2 mixed in the engine oil, and this is kind of related to Q1. Q3: How long it should stay in the oil, like X miles or Y engine running hours? Asking because if left till the next Oil change is it going to OVER-swell the seals? Even to a point they over swell and deform and cause bigger leaks ? THX
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
According to LiquiMoly: One full can (300 ml) used with 3–5 Liters (3.2 to 5.3 U.S. Qts) of motor oil. The product is self mixing and can be added at any time, sealing first takes effect after about 600-800 km (400-500 miles). The use of Motor Oil Saver every around 30.000 Km (20.000 miles) is recommended to guarantee a lasting effect. It should be safe to keep in between oil changes with no issues.
Question Posted by Jon
Is this safe to use in a 2017 BMW X1 sDrive28i (B48 engine)?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Yes, no issues/risks using it in your vehicle.
Question Posted by Miqueas
Can I used this product in a 2017 X3 XDrive28i automatic?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
No, this is not intended for transmissions.
Question Posted by Ryan
Can I use the hydraulic lifter treatment with this?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
It is not recommended by Liqui Moly, but some combinations are possible. Please contact Liqui Moly directly to confirm if you are thinking of doing this.
Question Posted by Deandre
Can this be used on a 2012 bmw x5 xDrive35i
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Yes, this would work for that application
Question Posted by Haris
I added 1 can to my BMW X5 F15 N55 about 3 months ago hoping to slow a oil pan leak (it hasn’t really helped). I see that it treats up to 5liters of oil. Since the N55 takes almost 7liters is it ok to add another half or full can to it?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Yes, just shy of another half a can would be accurate. So long as you have not drained the original oil saver and you are not due for an oil change. But take into account this is more for minor leaks caused by worn valve stem seals and is not meant for larger leak from gaskets like an engine oil pan.
