NOTE: Land Rover changed the fuel setup mid 2013. If your Evoque was built before chassis DH728455 (the last part of your VIN), then you also need to purchase a new sender [LR052710 ], and level sensor [LR044454 ], as the ones in your current vehicle will not interface with the updated design of the fuel pump.

Fuel Pump

A Fuel Pump is responsible for transferring fuel from the tank to the engine at the appropriate pressure. By delivering a consistent fuel flow, the fuel pump ensures the engine has the right fuel-air mixture for combustion, allowing the vehicle to run smoothly. Most modern vehicles use electric fuel pumps, which are typically located inside the fuel tank.

Fuel Pump Failure Symptoms
  • Difficulty Starting or No Start: A failing fuel pump may struggle to deliver fuel at the required pressure, resulting in hard starting or, in severe cases, a no-start condition. This is particularly noticeable during cold starts
  • Engine Stalling or Sputtering: If the fuel pump intermittently loses power or pressure, the engine may stall, sputter, or hesitate while driving, especially under heavy acceleration or at high speeds. This is often a sign of insufficient fuel flow
  • Loss of Power Under Load: A faulty fuel pump may not be able to provide the increased fuel flow needed during activities that require more power, such as driving uphill or accelerating quickly. This can cause a noticeable loss of power or hesitation in response
