Product Information

This kit features all the core components to replace and update the timing chains and wear components in the JLR AJ133 V8 engine, and adds new seals and gaskets for a complete service. Includes updated tensioners and tensioner guides, new stationary guides, genuine chains, and hardware for perfect compatibility. The front cover that contains the crankshaft seal features a non-replaceable rubber gasket, so the entire plate with crank seal is included.

The core essential parts in this kit are genuine, the same you would get at the dealership. The rest are high quality OE and aftermarket replacements from well known brands to make sure this kit is of the highest quality and affordability possible.

NOTE:

  • Special tools are required to do lock the camshafts, remove the crank pulley, and install the fuel injector seals. We do not currently have these tools, and will update this listing when they become available on FCP Euro.
Engine Timing Chain Kit

An engine timing chain is a crucial component in an internal combustion engine that synchronizes the rotation of the crankshaft and camshafts. It ensures that the engine's valves open and close at the proper times during each cylinder's intake and exhaust strokes, maintaining optimal engine performance. Timing chains are typically made of metal and are designed to last for the life of the engine, though they can wear out or become damaged over time. Damaged or stretched chains can impact the timing on an engine and overwork the tensioner, failures in this system can cause catastrophic engine failure and costly repairs.

Engine Timing Chain Kit Failure Symptoms
  • Noise: A common symptom of a failing timing chain is a rattling or slapping noise coming from the engine, especially during startup or acceleration. This noise may be more pronounced at idle or startup
  • Poor Engine Performance: If the timing chain is stretched, it can lead to decreased power, acceleration problems, or sluggish performance
