Jaguar Fuel Tank Gas Cap - Genuine Jaguar NJD5942BA

Product Information

A fuel tank cap, or gas cap, is a component that seals the opening of the vehicle’s fuel tank to prevent fuel vapors from escaping and to maintain the pressure within the fuel system. It plays a role in preventing fuel contamination, maintaining emissions control, and ensuring fuel efficiency.

• Check Engine Light: One of the most common signs of a faulty or loose fuel tank cap is the Check Engine Light illuminating. Common fault codes are P0455 and P0457 with verbiage highlighting the evaporative emissions system.
• Evaporative Emission Control (EVAP) System Issues: A faulty gas cap can disrupt the vehicle’s evaporative emissions control system, leading to performance issues in the system, triggering error codes, and potentially resulting in emissions test failures.
• Fuel Smell Around or in the Vehicle: If the fuel tank cap is not sealing properly or is damaged, fuel vapors may escape, causing a noticeable gasoline smell around the vehicle, especially near the fuel filler area.

In our industry these manufacturers are called OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers), and these are often brands you recognize, including Lemforder, ZF, Sachs, Bosch, Valeo, Zimmermann, Siemens VDO, Corteco, and more.
