Product Information
For high pressure and temperature environments
OEM specified. Formulated specifically for metal, tapered pipe thread fittings, it replaces Teflon® tape and pipe dopes. Cures rapidly to withstand up to 10,000 PSI. Prevents galling and protects mated threaded areas from rust and corrosion. Contains PTFE. Permatex® Thread Sealants seal and secure metal pipes and fittings. By filling the space between threaded metal parts, Thread Sealants cure to a pliable seal to prevent leakage caused by vibration loosening, tape shredding, solvent evaporation, damaged threads, and temperature cycling. Designed for low and high pressure applications, Thread Sealants seal instantly for on-line low pressure testing. When fully cured, they seal to the burst strength of most piping systems. The high lubricating properties of Permatex® Thread Sealants ease assembly and prevent galling of the threads. For system repairs, parts may be disassembled with basic hand tools.
About Permatex
Permatex was founded in 1909 by Constant A. Benoit Sr. when he developed the first Permatex product which was a shellac designed to bond bicycle tires to their rims. Shortly after that in 1915, Constant attended a 24 hour endurance race in which he observed that very frequently drivers were having to return to the pit area due to blown headgaskets. Quickly Benoit saw an opportunity to apply some of his experimental gasket compound to a vehicle in which it then ran the rest of the 24 hour race without any issues! The rest is history. Today the company is partnered with ITW (Illinois Tool Company) and has recently celebrated their 100 year anniversary in 2009. The company is known for excellence with over 350 products, and produces nearly 1,200 SKUs in several markets to include automotive, marine, heavy duty, and off highway.
