Dirko gray is a high-temperature sealing compound on a silicone base. Dirko gray cures by reacting with the humidity in the air. The cured sealing compound is permanently resilient. The product is characterized by a very large range of applications.

Resistant to: Oil, grease, coolant, UV radiation, cold and hot water, salt water, detergents, weak acids and lyes, etc.

Possible applications: Valve cover, oil pan, water and oil pump, differential housing, gearbox, gear oil sump, thermostat housing, control housing, shaft cover, flanged connection, headlamp, taillight, battery compartment, etc.

I love the Dirko line of sealants!
Get the real deal! German sealant that was designed to be used on German gaskets for German cars. I’ve used Dirko on many engines and have no complaints. I have noticed a difference in quality and adhesion over more common sealants sold in local auto parts stores.

Sets up and seals quickly
Used on valve cover gasket half moons. No leaks on startup after allowing to cure overnight.

Great Sealent
Application was easy with the tip, made a constant bead when using the included key to roll the end of the tube. The product stayed in place while placing parts together. Made a strong and consistent bond. Much better than I was expecting.

gasket maker
had a small leak at the valve cover, so I ordered the eccentric shaft sensor gasket and the valvetronic gasket along with a new valve cover gasket. Used the silicone maker on the valve cover gasket to hold it in place while maneuvering the valve cover back in place. Takes some finesse…..

Valve Cover Gasket Swap
This product formed a leak-free seal after swapping out the valve cover gaskets and applying this to the breather covers that mount to the top of the valve covers. I didn't apply this to the valve cover gasket seating surfaces. I cleaned all surfaces and after reassembly I let my car sit for 24 hours before running the engine. I checked back after a week of commuting and no leaks from any of the sealing points.

Yes, this can be used to reseal that timing cover. You should only need one for both sides.

Is this product covered under the lifetime replacement warranty? What is the difference between the gray and black RTV?

Gray is meant to seal rigid, high torque applications, like engine components. Black has better oil resistance and is meant to seal things like oil pans and transmission pans.

Is this required to form a skin before matting parts? What is the working time to get parts matted? Is there a waiting period between initial hand tight assembly and final torque? I checked manufacturer website and there was only a final cure time graph based on gasket thickness and nothing more. Plan on using this for Q5 timing cover 2.0L

The oil filter housing has a traditional gasket and shouldn't require RTV.
