Works great
Had it since 2021. I always use it. I've used it more than 20 times. If a battery is no good it won't charge it. Better than going to Walmart or AutoZone to get battery charged or tested.

NOT the Test & Charge
This IS the 40-206 MXS 5.0 Fully Automatic 4.3 amp Battery Charger and Maintainer 12V. It is NOT a Test & Charge. CTEK makes a 5 amp Test & Charge but does not sell it in the US. This unit is 4.3 amps and does not have a test feature.

CTEK MXS 5.0
I wasn't sure about paying a premium price for something that can be purchased for 1/2 the cost to do the same thing but after charging 2 of my cars overnight and reconditioning a battery that I was told was dead from my local parts store and now that battery is holding a charge with no problems....I am now wondering why it took me so long to get this CTEK 5.0. Simple and easy to use, light weight and compact. It would be nice if the charger came with a guard as it does seam a little fragile but as long as you don't throw it around the shop and take care of your tools this should last awhile and with the FCP warranty you can't go wrong. I basically got a lifetime warranty for about an extra $14.00. Another FCP great buy. Highly recommend.

I'd love to rate this as it's listed in stock but for some reason I won't get it for about 3 weeks. How can something be listed in stock and say it will take a week for delivery and then after paying changes to 3 weeks.

Great Device
This device is great for charging my BMW, but it lacks a few key features. One feature that I would like to see is a screen to show the battery voltage and percentage. Also, the clamps have a cheaper design, so the plastic cover over the positive terminal clamp keeps coming off. It gets the job done, but I expected more from CTEK. FCP Euro's lifetime replacement guarantee still cannot be beat.

The charger was a big help I highly recommend if you own a BMW, I noticed some low battery symptoms from my E92 BMW such as my halos not turning on when I unlock the car and excess battery discharge light coming on my dash as well. Instead of having to replace it I left it charging overnight and cured all the symptoms. Shipping was super fast and packaging was great as always.

Works perfectly!
My F10 M5 seems to be very sensitive and detects battery discharge often. This cured it. Perfect when I went on vacation for almost a month.

I know this charger doesn't double as a PSU but do you think it would provide enough juice to prevent the discharge of a battery when activating the water pump to purge the coolant system on a N55?

No, this charger will not provide enough continuous amperage to maintain a batteries charge level to perform a self bleed function. You would need something like the CTEK MXS25EC which provides a continuous 25 amp supply. If your battery is properly charged and in good condition you can usually complete the self bleed procedure before it shuts off from a power supply issue.

No, we do not recommend this battery tender to be used while flashing the vehicle. This is intended for maintaining a battery charge with the vehicle off. It does not provide enough amperage output to maintain battery charge while the vehicle is "on". You would need something like the MXS25EC which doubles as a power supply and charger.

Does this work alongside of using the star c4 diagnostics system to where it keeps the battery at the correct voltage while running xentry/das software so I can do diagnostics without having to leave the motor running while I carry out testing and repairs

No, not likely. This is really only intended for recharging and maintaining batteries via low amperage (mA). A larger battery charger would be required for running the car in accessory mode for long periods of time. Most of the shop chargers will run in the 30-40 amp range in comparison for this type of work.
