BMW Wastegate Actuator Kit - 11657638783KT

work for 2 months

Fixed my drivetrain error.

Worked great

I received a P126B code and had found out that the wastegate actuator shorted. Thankfully, this part is very easily accessible and was a breeze (for the most part) to DIY install. I ended up purchasing the more expensive kit with the cotter pin and extra bolts but I didn't need them after all. There are two ways to remove the part - one way is from the 4 screws holding the actuator into the bracket; the other, by removing the bracket and actuator together. I went with the former because I couldn't get the charge pipe (giant black rubber hose beneath the actuator) off for the life of me. But be careful with removing/replacing the actuator with the 4 screws because they EASILY strip. Calibration: The new part comes with a blue sharpie line drawn across the threads and the 2x 10mm nuts. I was afraid that I would need to take it into a shop to have them calibrate everything with the ITSA software, however I ended up doing it through trial and error. Basically I had to hold the wastegate closed while making sure the arm was set to the correct length before attaching it. After that I lined up the blue lines as best as I could and that was it. I did end up purchasing a OBD II scanner (w/ BMW programming options) and was able to clear codes and drivetrain malfunction. Solid part, shipping is always way faster than what they say and probably saved easily $1,500.
