BMW Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator - Mitsubishi 11657638783

First I bought a replacement part elsewhere that didn't have the aluminum bracket. Removing the bracket screws while on the car was impossible due to corrosion. Then I bought and installed this part which was straightforward and was correctly adjusted in length right out of the box.

Replacement was not as hard as some of the online videos make it out. A mirror helps when installing the clip to the wastegate flapper. I fired up my 2014 328 and the CEL and limp mode messages were gone - no calibration with ISTA needed. Back checked it with a Foxwell scanner and there were no codes to be found - that alone made my day! Guess I got lucky!

This did the trick. Prefect replacement for the worn out actuator on my 2013 E84 X1 (28i). The two bolts are T40 and you'll need an approx. 12 inch extender to get to them. They're pretty difficult to reach with all the hoses in the way. Maybe stating the obvious, but wait till the engine is cold...touching the exhaust manifold is unavoidable. With my engine's configuration, the 2-holed flapper was permanently attached to the wastegate, so I didn't need the one included here - just slipped the rod end onto the existing one. I couldn't seem to find a hole for the cotter pin, but the rod hasn't fallen off the wastegate flapper in tens of thousands of miles, so it's probably fine. BMW service bulletin SI B11 14 17 mentions part 83302456269 (sold by FCP) would fasten it more securely, but it's $51 so I'm good unless it actually becomes an issue. These 3 days without boost were horrifying. Thanks for speedy shipping FCP!

Better than original… especially since I dialed in the wastegate to ensure full closure of flap. Which BTW, make sure you have ISTA+ for calibration after install.
