Product Information

The Valvetronic eccentric shaft actuator is located on top of the valve cover and is responsible for adjusting the position of the eccentric shaft which directly changes the lift of the intake valves. When Valvetronic is functioning all engine speed is controlled exclusively by the Valvetronic system by varying the valve lift as needed.

The Valvetronic actuator is a potential failure item on N51/N52/N52N engines but the good news is it can be replaced relatively easily as it sits external to the engine on the valve cover. This kit comes with a new actuator, actuator seal, and replacement hardware.

Gasket
Everything from this kit has worked fine, but the gasket ended up tearing at the bottom, causing a rough idle from air entering the crankcase and various misfire/lean/air mass system codes. It was likely from me installing it to be honest, I couldve overtorque the bolts, but I dont really think I did that. Just dont screw up the gasket and everything is fine

On the inside of the gasket there is a black stripe in the middle - this goes up. When looking at the outside bolt holes on the gasket, you will notice they are offset vertically. With the black stripe up, these will be on the "top" or "above" of the centerline of the gasket.
