Product Information

Radiator Coolant Hose

Radiator hoses have an important job to transport your engine's coolant to and from its cooling system components. Over time they can become dry, hard, brittle, or leak which warrants a replacement. When replacing we also recommend a coolant flush and replacement to remove any possible sludge formed over time.

Recommended - Radiator / heating system cleaner by Liqui Moly LM2051. Radiator cleaner reliably removes dangerous deposits and allows the engine to run at the optimum temperature and operational reliability. Use as a preventive measure when performing a radiator hose replacement or coolant flush. Ideal for older systems.

Radiator Coolant Hose Failure Symptoms
  • Cracking

About Rein

Founded in 2007, CRP Automotive introduced the Rein Automotive line of OE-quality replacement parts to the aftermarket. And in just two short years, Rein Automotive has become very popular among both warehouse distributors and professional repair technicians. Rein is the German word for “pure”, and has come to be synonymous with quality in the automotive aftermarket. A true dealer alternative.

The Rein brand includes a growing number of “better than OE” parts for selected applications. These parts address known weaknesses and premature failures of factory parts. Many of these replacement and service solutions have been developed with the help of our Innovation Council, a hand-picked group of experienced professional repair technicians and shop owners throughout North America.

All Rein Automotive OE-quality parts are backed by the CRP Automotive standard, and are backed with a ISO 9001:2015 quality management system certification. Each year, CRP Automotive ships thousands of Rein Automotive brand products. And with widespread NAFTA market distribution through strategically placed warehouses in Cranbury, New Jersey and Puebla, Mexico - OE-quality products like Rein Automotive are delivered to customers both faster and more cost-effectively than ever before.

In 2017 Rein partnered with FCP Euro in competing a W204 C300 AER car for the 2017 season. The partnership focused FCP Euro to dive deep into the Rein catalog offering, and hundreds of new products were added and integrated into our catalog. Hundreds of new packages were created not only using the full part pine up of Rein products, but also the entire family of CRP products like Pentosin.

Rein is also an innovative brand, winning numerous trade awards — including multiple new product innovation awards at the annual AAPEX trade show.

Leaked, then fixed.
Leaked at first at the large connection to the coolant reservoir. Had to reseat the plastic retainer against the o-ring inside the hose fitting. Works great now.

It's not OE - leaked immediately
The design is clearly not OE. The hose is smaller diameter and the plastic fittings are a different shape I installed it and about 2 hrs of driving later the o-ring on the bleeder screw blew and emptied most of the coolant in the system. Going to return and get the real BMW part.

Important replacement at 60K miles
Good preventative maintenance -- a common failure in BMWs. My original radiator hose looks ok outside, but inside the plastic showed signs of severe aging: discoloration and brittleness. Both this hose and the coolant flange are connected to the engine and undergo extreme heat-and-cooling cycles, so was important to replace both at the same time to avoid draining the coolant and servicing the cooling system multiple times. Thanks, FCP Euro for fast shipping.

Glad I went aftermarket. Fitting had the BMW logo on it and the hose had just been written over with a permanent marker. Quality part, 2000 miles without any leaks.

Question Posted by a customer
What two hose part numbers connect to this part? In particular I am looking for the hose that goes from this part to the driver side and then back into the engine compartment under the air cleaner asst.
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Part numbers 64213416609 and 17123448462 run to the heater control valve from the upper radiator hose and from the control valve to the firewall. I have included links below. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-hose-f-engine-inlet-and-water-valve-64213416609 https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-hvac-heater-hose-x3-17123448462
Question Posted by Kate
Is this a common failed item? — (like the coolant flange, where the plastic becomes brittle and breaks off) What’s the replacement interval (mileage and/or age of vehicle)? Thanks!
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
There isn't a specific service interval. Generally, when replacing other major components (such as the radiator, thermostat, water pump, etc) it's worthwhile while replacing the radiator hoses at the same time.
