Product Information

Complete service kit for your E60 M5 or E63/E64 M6 GS7S47BG SMG transmission, includes 3 liters of Redline and applicable replacement hardware

This SMG service kit is an ideal solution for maintaining your BMW's transmission performance. Fluids brake down over time and need to be replacement. In addition to being a coolant and a lubricant the gear oil also carries and traps wear particles. The SMG transmission features a filter near the oil cooler pump which will trap larger wear particles. It is critical to replace this filter when servicing your BMW's 7 speed SMG transmission.

Please note: Filling capacity for the transmission is roughly 2.5 liters to 2.75 liters of fluid. The oil filter for the transmission is torqued to 25Nm (18 ft lbs) and the drain/fill plugs are torque to 35Nm (25 ft lbs) . The oil cooler on the side of the transmission may need to be moved slightly

Manual Transmission Fluid

Manual transmission fluid is a specialized lubricant used in a manual gearbox to facilitate smooth gear shifting by reducing friction between the moving parts; when it fails, common symptoms include difficulty shifting gears, gear slipping, grinding noises, rough shifting, fluid leaks, and a burning smell, often indicating excessive wear or contamination within the transmission.

Manual Transmission Fluid Failure Symptoms
  • Difficult shifting: Gears may feel hard to engage or require excessive force to shift
  • Gear slipping: The engine RPMs increase without the car accelerating properly, indicating the gears are not fully engaging
  • Grinding noises: A grinding sound when shifting gears, often a sign of excessive wear on gear teeth

DUDE. Shifts so much better. 55k miles on the original fluid. No more lurching at low speeds in automatic and banging through the gears in M mode at redline doesn't feel like the trans is trying to rip itself out.

Great Kit for your SMG service
A great all in one package for your SMG service. The Redline oil made a huge difference in shifting, it is noticeably smoother. New drain/fill plugs with washers was very handy and it was time to change out the reusable filter for a new one. Thanks FCP for putting this together in a kit!
