Comprehensive rod bearing kit that includes standard sized connecting rod bearings and 16 connecting rod bolts, all gaskets and seals, and subframe bolts

S62 V8s are used in the E39 M5 and some non-BMW applications. Unlike other BMW Motorsport engines the S62 is not as prone to connecting rod bearing wear but some engines do have the problem. There doesn't seem to be a trend as to when rod bearing failure occurs as some engines go without having issues while others indicate rod bearing issues relatively quickly.

To prevent engine failure the rod bearings must be replaced. FCP Euro has assembled this rod-bearing replacement kit using Genuine BMW rod bearings and connecting rod bolts. This is considered a basic kit and does not include gaskets or other fasteners that you will likely need to replace. We also offer a comprehensive kit that covers everything you will need assuming you don't have the other parts lying around.

Please note: Per BMW it is recommended to use a plastiguage to measure the tolerances of the crankshaft journal and connecting rod bearing to ensure that the engine has proper tolerances. The connecting rod bolts are for one-time use only and must first be oil-washed before installation. The bolt must first be applied at 5Nm of torque, followed by a joining torque of 20Nm, and then torque angled 65°.
