If you are needing to replace your plastic oil filter housing, go with this one and never have to worry about yours leaking again (the housing at least, not the gasket). Is a well made part that fits perfectly. Looks good to.

Former MINI tech and have done more of these than I can remember (the first batch of the F series MINIs off the production line had these filter housings stop saled/recalled before the first vehicles could even be sold). I ended up buying this to replace my OE oil filter housing due to the plastic housing breaking off around the coolant jacket and compromising the gasket. This metal housing should eliminate this as a possible point of failure in the future. Where I feel this part is lacking is, the OE filter housing bolt holes are tapered and the bolts themselves have an o ring on them from preventing them from falling out at any point. This would be a nice feature to have, as it makes it significantly easier to line up the housing and install it. On the 4 cylinder, I feel this would be less of an issue since you have a little more room to work, but still the added difficulty. On the 3 cylinder all the accessory belt driven components, the alternator, water pump, A/C compressor are shifted one cylinder over towards the housing and make it really tight to work in. Having those bolts holding themselves in the housing just makes it easier. One important thing to note, the hardware supplied are easily 10 mm shorter than the OE bolts. I ended up reusing the OE bolts from the original housing and didn't bother trying to use the supplied bolts. I feel with the new gaskets, raising the housing off the block during install, that need to be compressed in order for them to make a good seal would either make using these bolts difficult as it would probably only grab a thread or two before they started pulling the housing in, potentially risking pulling the threads. For the 3 cylinder, if the OE housing wasn't 2.5 times the price of this one, I probably would have opted for it instead just to make install easier and rolled the dice on it happening again in the future. That being said, this was installed and it's no longer leaking. 4/5 stars because of the hardware being shorter and the lack of taper on the bore holes prevent the hardware from being held loosely in place during the install. Otherwise the housing feels/looks sturdy.
