To upgrade my 2007 335i w/ N54 — that didn’t come with an oil cooler — what other parts do I need? Specifically, do I need a different oil filter housing to match this part? Also, once installed, is it ok to run this thermostat housing with plugs in both the top and bottom until I get lines, bracket, oil-cooler, etc together and installed? If it needs a different part # oil-filter housing than the original, do you have that in stock? Lotta questions: last, do you have any of the parts as a ‘kit’? Thanks for the info!

Your original N54 oil-filter housing can be retained; this thermostat housing bolts to it with gasket 11428637820, so a different oil-filter housing is not required. For a factory-style retrofit you will also need the oil cooler, both oil lines, four line O-rings, cooler bracket/mounting hardware, and vehicle-specific air ducting; do not run the thermostat housing with both oil ports plugged, because the oil circuit is intended to flow through the cooler once the thermostat opens. We do not currently offer a complete factory-retrofit kit, so please send your full VIN to service@fcpeuro.com so we can verify the correct E90/E92/E93 lines, brackets, ducting, and hardware before ordering.

I have a 2009 E92 N54 WITHOUT an oil cooler. I would like to upgrade my oil filter housing to that of one with an oil cooler, and eventually an after market one. Is this part, part of the route that I go?

This oil cooler thermostat is required along with the oil filter housing designed to work for the oil cooler.

It’s known that the Oil Thermostat Lid Gasket sometimes go bad and causes an oil leak. I was wondering where can we get that gasket? Can’t seem to find that anywhere. What do you recommend?

The gasket in question is not available separately from the thermostat. It's considered a non-serviceable item.
