Product Information
Brake pad wear sensors are used to monitor the thickness of your vehicle's brake pad friction lining. When the minimum safe thickness is reached the pad wear sensor comes into contact with the brake rotor and opens the circuit which in turn triggers a warning on your instrument cluster notifying you that it is time to service your brakes. Whether or not the pad wear sensor has been triggered it is highly recommended to replace the pad wear sensor when replacing brake pads. They tend to become fragile with age and can easily break when removed from old brake pads causing false warnings after completing the service,
WARNING: Proposition 65 informationDisc Brake Pad Wear Sensors, or Brake Pad Sensor, as they're commonly called, are used as an instrument to alert the driver when the brake pads of the vehicle are at a low level and are in need of replacement. Operation of the sensor is simple where it is wired to the brake control module with 12v and when the brake pad becomes low enough, the sensor will ultimately surface and make contact with the rotor which in turn grounds the sensor and completes the circuit which triggers the light in your instrument cluster. The Brake Pad Wear Sensor is recommended to be replaced at the time of brake pad replacement.

easy install when everything is bolted back together. If your old sensor went off to tell you to replace your brakes when you install this one or any other one you must have the parking brake OFF or it will not reset.
Sensor was a direct fit into the suspension and chassis cable guides, and clipped perfectly into the inboard brake pad. Plug connection was good and sensor seems to be working fine, no errors or lights since the brake job and the service reset done via the Bimmerlink app. Removing the old sensor's clips from the chassis and suspension guides was a pain - hit them with WD-40 and use a plastic or soft-metal pry bar to get them unmounted instead of doing it by hand like I did. Pulling the old sensor out of the pad was easy - simply removed the pad entirely once the cable was unfastened and did it off the car. That was just curiosity, I was replacing those pads and wanted to examine the old sensor up close.
Wear sensors fit well no issues .

For all applications listed in the fitment guide there is only one pad wear sensor used on the rear axle. Only one is required for servicing the rear brakes.
