Product Information

It's time for a brake service if your BMW's steering wheel shakes while braking or the light is illuminated on your dash indicating your bake pads are too thin. There are numerous critical parts of your BMW's brake system. The two main wear items are the brake pads and the brake rotors. By their very nature they are intended to wear out.

Brake rotors can wear out in several ways. The most common reason for replacing brake rotors is because they are "warped". Warped brake rotors is another way of saying that there are uneven deposits on the rotor surface from the brake pads. This can cause the steering wheel to shimmy while braking. Rotors can be machined to remove the deposits but this is usually counterproductive and it's often safer and easier to just replace the rotors. One brake rotors reach their minimum specified thickness they must be replaced.

Brake pads are the friction material that allow for braking to begin with. They are softer than the brake rotor surface and tend to wear quicker. The brake pad wear sensor attached to the brake rotor will be tripped when the pad becomes too thin and illuminate a light on your dash letting you know that a brake service is required.

Disc Brake Kit

When looking to service the brake system of your vehicle, a brake kit is the best option of choice. Brake kits take the guesswork out of which components are needed for the repair as they include everything needed to perform the job.

I'm coming from the Toyota world and this is my first time replacing the brake pads / rotors on a BMW so there's a slight learning curve. I watched FCP Euro's how to video with Gareth. The hardest part was figuring out how to take the anti rattle clip off but after that it was pretty straightforward. I've have these on my car for almost 1000 miles so here's my take. Pros: 1 ) everything in the kit fits like OEM and was very high quality. I was really impressed with the Zimmerman coated rotors; there's not a spec of rust due to the coating. 2) brake initial "bite" feels really good. I've been very happy with the performance of the brake feel and stopping power. I did do the brake "bedding in" procedure after installation. 3) value. You're saving quite a bit money using these parts over taking your car to the dealership without sacrificing any performance Cons: brake dust. After two weeks my wheels turn from gray to black. It's not quite as bad as my G80 M3 but it's getting there. If that level of brake dust bothers you, you're better off getting Akebono ceramic pads. Cons: brake dust.

Good Kit but I hate the the pads!
The kits that FCP puts together are great. However I got confused and got the kit with Textar pads instead of the Akebono pads. The Textar give off massives amount of brake dust and I’m not exaggerating! They performed like OEM but the dust had to go so I ended up buying the Akebono Euro pads.
