this model does not appear to have the battery/starter/alternator testing programs
i watched a lot of CTEK 4.3 videos on yt, because everyone said that is the OEM part that BMW relabels. those videos showed a tester for the battery, starter, and alternator which does appear to be a feature on this BMW charger. no mention of it in the manual also. i am happy to pay 80% extra to buy something with a BMW label on it, but not with missing or truncated functionality. HUGE f'ing L imo that said, as a charger it is EXCELLENT

Awesome charger
Love this battery charger, perfect for the person who stores their car for the winter and wants to keep the battery in tip top shape. While it is pricy I consider it to be worth it because you have the option to charge regular car and motorcycle batteries as well as lithium batteries!

Same unit I see at BMW dealerships. Works great on my 2016 M3. My car sits for 3 to 4 day’s at a time and I also open and close the doors a lot while detailing etc. When it’s time to start it, it turns over very quickly. The unit also works on my E90 and F30. I did a cooling system bleed on our 2011 e90 and the procedure calls for the water pump to run for 11 minutes. Simply switching to the regular battery mode (non Li on) it maintained power to the system for the entire process.

The battery charger would help to charge the battery to get the vehicle started, but if the battery is over 5 years old and/or it's struggling to start the vehicle a new battery may be needed.

My 07 328i has started having battery issues within the past 2 years due to much less driving. Local garage shop recommended I get a trickle charger to use for storing anything more than a week (or a few days in cold / heat). Is this a good option? Also does it connect to the jump points under the hood or to the actual battery in the trunk? Thanks!

This can be connected to the jump points under the hood. Alternatively, the CTEK MXS 5.0 (CTEK makes the charger for BMW) offer an option to permanently install leads to the battery so it's a simply connect/disconnect operation.

I have a 2020 M8 Convertible, and purchased the Genuine BMW charger also. I hooked up the charger all is good lights came on I set the mode for lithium battery. All wires running from clips and charger are not warm at all. The charger itself is warm not to hot to touch. Is this normal? Look forward to using this site. Thank You!

Yes, it is normal for a battery charger to get warm while it is recharging the battery. It shouldn't be hot to the touch but warm is normal.
