It's hard to think that your CV axle is actually a complicated piece of equipment. When you think about it, a CV axle needs to be able to adapt to a wide range of motion between suspension movements and steering inputs while still transmitting power to the wheel. Over thousands of miles, various road and weather conditions, and time axle boots can tear or simply stretch and wear. If a tear occurs in a boot, the grease will leak out allowing for water and dirt to get into the joint. If caught soon enough, you can reboot the axle. However, if it is ignored an axle replacement will be needed. This is usually indicated by drive train vibrations under acceleration and clicking coming from the CV joints.
GKN Loebro is an OEM supplier to BMW for axle shaft and CV assemblies. This completely new unit will restore drivetrain function to your BMW.
Note: Does not include a new axle nut, which will need to be replaced when installing this new assembly. You can find the axle nut here. We also recommend replacing the axle shaft seal in order to prevent leaking.
The CV (Constant Velocity) axle assembly is responsible for transferring torque and rotational power from the transmission to the wheels while allowing for suspension movement and steering articulation. The CV axle consists of a shaft with joints at both ends: a CV joint that connects the axle to the transmission and another CV joint that connects the axle to the wheel hub. This design allows the axle to handle changes in angle and length as the vehicle moves, especially when turning or going over bumps.
CV Axle Assembly Failure Symptoms- Clicking or Popping Noises: One of the most common signs of a failing CV axle is a clicking or popping noise when turning the vehicle. This noise typically occurs when the CV joint is damaged or worn out, especially during sharp turns.
- Vibration While Driving: A failing CV axle can cause noticeable vibrations while driving, especially at higher speeds. This vibration may indicate that the axle is bent, or damaged, or that the CV joints are worn out.
- Grease Leaks: If the CV axle boot tears or cracks, grease can leak out. You may notice grease on the inside of the wheel or around the CV joint. This can lead to increased wear on the joint due to a lack of lubrication.

used these on my 2008 bmw 335xi and it was a ripper, these held up just fine and the quality is key
This is the same PN for both E90/E91/E92…
In response to the fella who was told this is an E92 part: the front shafts are not symmetrical… (I imagine they wanted the left shaft and accidentally ordered the right.) The right shaft is longer as it must pass through an opening in the oil pan. The diff is offset toward driver side.
This part does NOT fit my 2008 BMW 328xi. The mechanic told me that this is a part for a two door BMW not for my 4 door sedan becasue it doesn't fit. So instead, right on the spot I had to resort to a different source for another part in time to make car run again before the Memeorial Day Weekend. The FCP site deos NOT indicate this as the validation says it will fit my car. I have the FCP part put togther with the old broken part from BMW and had a picture taken, from the picture I saw the differences. I'm sure this can be return as FCP has great customer service policies. Maybe FCP scan also update this difference for this particular part on their site to avoid futrue confusion.
Well made, easy to install. The description says you need to order an axle nut also. Sort of true. Mine arrived with a 32mm axle nut on it...BMW uses a 36mm nut. Honestly, I think either would work fine.
The axle nut that comes with this axle is smaller than 36mm. Buy a separate OEM 36 mm axle nut.
