Please check the production date and the belt system currently on the vehicle. This will only work on vehicles currently using a 5 rib A/C belt (11281437450 or 5PK863).
If your vehicle has a 4 rib belt, use tensioner 11287512758.
BMW does not list a replacement dust cap for this tensioner but we have verified it uses the same dust cap as the main accessory belt mechanical tensioner. If you need a replacement cap please see p/n 11281435114

Works as expected, replaced old rattling tensioner. Can't ask for much more than that
Didn’t think I’d be on my 4th one but here we are. 4 of this brand of A/C tensioners in a row and they squealed pretty much right out of the box. I’ve bought and installed 3 from this site and 1 from a different vendor and still squeals the moment the car is started. Hope this manufacturer finds and deals with the problem
Great replacement for my 2003 BMW 530i.
For some weird reason, Advance Auto does have the individually pulley for sale. Dayco 89133. $20. I've used them on my e46 & e53 vehicles. I mean, the large internal spring still works on the tensioner. It's only the pulley that wears out. (In my experiences)
Old tensioner had seen better days. Cheap replacement part no complaints.

Direct replacement for E46 M3. Perfect fitment
Too bad you have to buy the whole unit and not just the pulley but it went on great. Nice touch to include the tensioner locked with a pin for installation.
Bought this tensioner, the water pump belt tensioner and the idler (BMW calls it a deflector) from this awesome site. Ina is definitely the OEM manufacturer for M54's and the only issue I had was when buying/changing both tensioner at once, although they appear to be identical and interchangeable. They are not. Like another person's comment, the parts do not have part #s and you may find yourself wasting quite a bit of time when putting the wrong one in place. They have identical mounting holes but one will interfere with the idler. Take care in putting the right one where if belongs for a perfect fit. The old AC tensioner was still good but I changed it anyway when my WP tensioner began singing an expensive and potentially radiator destroying tune.
All is now quiet on my front.
PS when buying the part from Oreilly, theirs doesn't include the the extension you can put a socket on to un tension the tensioner when installing the bottom mounting bolt.
