This release handle is used to open up your vehicles hood.

Hood Release Handle

A hood release handle is a lever or pull mechanism located inside a cabin, typically near the driver's seat. Its primary function is to release the latch that secures the vehicle's hood in place, allowing the hood to be opened for maintenance, inspections, or repairs. The handle is connected to a cable that runs to the hood latch mechanism. Typically the handle is made of plastic and over time can become brittle, cracked, or damaged preventing the opening of the hood.

Hood Release Handle Failure Symptoms
  • Handle Feels Loose or Wobbly: If the handle feels loose or does not return to its original position after being pulled, it may indicate a problem with the cable or the latch mechanism
  • Hood Won’t Open: A common symptom of failure is the inability to open the hood, even after pulling the release handle. This could result from a broken cable, a disconnected or damaged latch, or an issue with the handle itself
  • Difficulty Pulling the Handle: If pulling the handle requires excessive force or feels stuck, it may signal a problem with the cable or the latch mechanism, which may be jammed or corroded

Got to keep an extra
I tend to break this part every few years. Good to keep one on the shelf. A slight pain in the butt to do especially when it’s broken.
