Product Information

A common wear item on FSI engine

This fuel pump cam follower is a common wear item on FSI engines. Most commonly this follower will wear out causing issues with the high pressure fuel pump system. This follower ride on the cam transfers energy to the HPFP. Worn followers have been known to have holes worn through them.

We particularly recommend regularly inspecting this follower to ensure that it is in good shape. This is especially important on modified engines that are running more than average boost levels.

We recommend checking your fuel pump cam follower:

  • Every 7,500-10,000 miles on highly modified cars
  • Every 20,000-30,000 miles on stock cars

Cam Follower
This is a preventive maintenance part that will save your engine,on my first engine for my Audi a4 b7 it broke and sent all the metal into my oil filter housing. Naturally this made my engine seis and I had to get a whole new engine. I can not stress this enough REPLACE THIS about every 3 to 5 oil changes or every 2 to 3 years. This job will take about an hour of your time and make you have faith in your engine. The main things to replace on 2.0T engines Cam Follower PCV valve Purge Valve If you replace all of these parts listed you will not have any problem (with normal maintenance)

Simple & easy install.
I've done this before on my other MK5 GTI, and this was the same easy process to install. Disconnect the electrical lines, bleed & remove the schrader valve, and remove the pump. Replace the O-Ring and coat the new follower in oil and reinstall. Did it in about an 45 minutes.

The best way to check is to remove the high pressure oil pump and inspect the cam follower. At that point, since they're prone to wear anyhow, you might as well replace it.
