About Volkswagen Super Beetle
The Volkswagen Super Beetle was very similar to the original Beetle but featured a stretched nose design, 11% larger rear window, larger front brakes, tail lights with reverse lights, among other changes that warranted a new sub model. Super Beetles were produced from 1971 to 1979 with notable improvements made throughout the model years. In 1973 a curved windscreen was introduced which was pushed forward keeping the windshield away from passengers. A redesigned padded dashboard was also put in place along with a 2-speed heater fan for the 1973 model year. The North American Super Beetle models received newly revised front and rear bumpers with energy absorbing bumper brackets for the 1974 model year. The 1975 model year Beetles received air flow control fuel injection, also received a new muffler and upstream catalytic converter on California models. Another big addition to the 1975 Super Beetles was rack and pinion steering replacing the old worm and roller gear box. If you have a classic Super Beetle you know that not much can replace that nostalgic feel taking you back to the days when things were much simpler.
