One of the first models presented in the W 201 series is the Mercedes Benz 190E. The 190E was born in 1982, reconditioned in 83-84 and came equipped with a four cylinder engine. It received a visual upgrade with the release of the 1984 190E 2.3-16 in the form of a wing type spoiler at the rear of the vehicle. The valve additions made to the engine ( 2 intake and 2 exhaust ) boosted the horse power from 136 to 185, allowing the new 190E model to top out at a high speed of just under 143 miles per hour.
