About Audi A3 Quattro
The Audi A3 Quattro was available in the second generation with an all-wheel drive Haldex system. This unit is used to adjust the traction coupling transferring the bias of torque to the front or rear wheels depending on where the slipping is occurring. The Haldex unit operates as front wheel drive until a loss of grip is signaled. The second generation A3 Quattro models come standard with a VR6 engine along with the on demand Haldex traction based system. The second generation of the Audi A3 was designed by Gary Telaak and was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in 2003. In mid-2003 a 2.0 Turbo FSI engine was available making 197 hp along with a 3.2 liter VR6 with 247 hp engine option.The Audi A3 sedan was shown at the 2013 New York Auto Show. This new generation Audi A3 8V chassis features a 1.8 TFSI and 2.0 TDI power plant options. The third generation of the Audi A3 was available for the 2015 US model year with production starting in 2012 in other countries. Its the first Audi vehicle to use the flexible modular VW Group MQ8 platform, available as a 3-door hatchback or 5-door sportback. The Audi A3 Quattro features all-wheel drive technology like most Audi models giving the A3 superb grip in just about any weather conditions.
