The Audi 5000 name plate was designated for the US market with the Audi 100 called the Audi 5000 within the US. This model was called the 5000 until 1988; the Audi 5000 S/Turbo was on Car and Drivers Ten Best list for 1984 and 1985. The 5000 CS Turbo Quattro was also on the Car and Driver list from 1986 to 1988. This model in part of the C3 chassis that ranges from 1982-1991.The engines for the 5000 ranged in size from 2.1 inline 5 to 2.3 liter inline 5 with most of the engines turbocharged with a peak horsepower of 220 from the 2.2 liter I-5 turbo. This model also has racing history with the Audi 100 and 200 quattro participating in rally events on world wide scale. The Quattro models also participated in the Trans-Am Series, Audi used the 200 quattro turbo as their Group A rally car.
