About Audi 100 Quattro
The Audi 100 Quattro had the Quattro option available for the C4 chassis from 1991 to 1994. The Quattro model came with a ZF four-speed automatic gearbox. This all-wheel drive system was already proven on the 1988 Audi 200 turbo Quattro that took 8 out of 13 wins in the Trans-Am Series. The SCCA changed the regulation to two-wheel drive only and made it a regulation to run North American made engines.A prototype of the Audi 100 C1 with all-wheel drive was made in 1976; this was not the same Quattro system that appeared many years later. The Audi 100 C4 generation was available in a front wheel drive and four-wheel drive Quattro platforms with assembly out of Neckarsulm, Germany. The body styles included a 4 door sedan option along with a 5-door wagon option. Audi used type numbers to further distinguish each platform, Type 4A was put in place for the C4 chassis.
