An automatic transmission oil cooler is a heat exchanger that helps regulate the temperature of transmission fluid. It works by circulating the hot transmission fluid through a cooler (often located in front of the radiator or as part of it), where air or coolant lowers the fluid temperature before it returns to the transmission.
