Door Latch Cable

A door latch cable is a mechanical cable inside a vehicle’s door that connects the interior or exterior door handle to the door latch mechanism. When you pull the handle, the cable transmits force to the latch, allowing the door to open.

Door Latch Cable Failure Symptoms
  • Door Won’t Open from Inside or Outside: Pulling the handle does not release the latch.
  • Intermittent Operation: The door opens sometimes and fails other times due to fraying or partial cable breakage.
  • Loose or Floppy Door Handle: The handle moves but doesn’t engage the latch properly.

Do I need to take the locking mechanism out of the door to attach the new cable ?

No, you should be able to install without taking the lock out. The door panel however will need to be removed.

Unfortunately we don't have any DIY's however the cable is very straight forward to access, just in a tight space.
