Newly produced, rustproof trim strips for the A-pillar/roof edge on the right and left side of the windscreen in the P2 Volvo V70 and V70XC are now available at FCP Euro.

The original trim strips have an aluminium core which corrodes - "blossoms out". It produces bubbles form under the paint and the paint can peel off. The removal of the corrosion and the repainting of these aluminium parts is only possible with great effort and often not permanently durable. Furthermore, the original spare parts are no longer available from Volvo. The new strips have a molded rubber sealing lip like the original.

Kit Includes:

  • Left and right side upper windshield moldings
  • Left and right side lower windshield moldings
  • All required hardware, clips, screws, and buffers

We have now reissued the strips in an improved version. Our newly manufactured skirtings have a stainless steel core as an improvement over the original.

While the original trim strip was painted body color, this kit features a black smooth plastic coating that looks fresh on all paint colors. If you wish, you can also have it painted at a paint shop with '2K lacquer and softface additive in car color. Painting on your own with the spray can does not work. Advantages:

  • Stainless - Non-corrosive
  • Resistant plastic coating
  • Can be installed unpainted
Roof Drip Molding

A roof drip molding is a trim piece installed along the edges of a vehicle’s roofline, designed to channel rainwater away from the windows and doors. By controlling water flow, it helps keep the interior dry, reduces streaking on side glass, and prevents corrosion around door seals. In addition to its functional role, roof drip molding also provides a finished, streamlined look to the vehicle’s exterior.

Roof Drip Molding Failure Symptoms
  • Water leaking into the cabin, especially near doors or windows during rain.
  • Loose, cracked, or missing molding, leading to poor water channeling.
  • Faded or warped appearance, caused by prolonged sun and weather exposure.

White clips not usable
Firstly, the positive: This kit addresses my BIGGEST cosmetic pet peeve with our 2007 V70 wagon. MASSIVE improvement. NIce of them to include the rain collection cheeks as well. The beef is with the white clips -- the black and yellow ones are fine. I spent about 2 hours fiddling with getting the white clips to go in -- do they snap in? Are they to go into the trim piece first? I tried every permutation working from the rather vague instructions at https://www.skandix.de/en/documents/installation-guide/moulding-apillar-windscreen-drip-rail/3000453/ Driver's side (done first): 3+ hours. Passenger side, bypassing any attempt at using the white clips: 25 minutes. I salvaged the white (now off-white with decades of weathering) clips from Volvo. They are subtly different in the thickness of the plastic used for the mounting flange. The amount of force necessary to "snap" them was prohibitive, and I was unwilling to risk damaging the trim. There is a slight gap on the driver's side looking toward the car near the top of the A-Pillar. I guess I could try to reposition the topmost yellow clip to move it away from the windshield... Or re-use the old ones... but I'm done fiddling with it for now and despite that gripe this is a MAJOR IMPROVEMENT that took some serious wrinkle lines off our beloved wagon.

trim review
On the passenger side the lower part of the trim near the hood did not want to clip down. We changed out all of the clips rotating through to see if it was a bad clip but nope. It also did not come with instructions but luckily it wasn’t too difficult to figure out along with the guy who left the longer review explaining his issues and the link he posted. Because the passenger side wouldn’t fully clip down we had to tape it down onto some caulk so it wouldn’t be up and risk flying in the air when driving. The trim also wouldn’t fit at first and had to cut with a razor(possibly bc the aftermarket windshield is oversized), but i also found a video online where a man had the same problem and he sanded down a flap of the trim so it would be flat against the windshield. It also has a larger gap up top and we made sure it was the correct position. Not sure if it’s a missing trim near the roof racks or if the product is just over cut and undersized up to. Overall the product works and is fine now. It definitely can be tweaked to fit better as well as having instructions. They also do not seem to ship stickers with the product anymore even though they said they would but not stressed about that.

Excellent Product Quality - Instructions were not included
The molding looks and feels like good quality materials and manufacturing were used. However, as there are no instructions included with it I had to figure some things out on my own as well as spend time looking up the Volvo how-to's elsewhere. A single sheet how-to instruction set could have made the install easier and with better results. The first strip I installed isn't quite aligned correctly and thus doesn't sit fully flat against the vehicle's A column. But other than the "user error" part of the equation, this is a very good repair product. NOTE: If the vehicle's paint color is also on stock windshield molding trim, you cannot simply replace the rubber and reuse the original metal trim part. The rubber is thoroughly bonded with the metal trim during manufacturing on both the stock and replacement parts. You'll have to be okay with black trim molding. I think it looks very good on my 2007 XC70. Lessons learned: You will want to remove the front plastic cover on the roof rail and loosen (or remove) the two bolts. Lifting the rail up a little bit will make installing the new molding trim a lot easier. Do not pound too hard on the new trim piece while trying to snap it onto the retaining clip. If it isn't snapping into place, then it's not aligned correctly or the plastic retaining clip may have shifted or broken. After the clips are in place on the vehicle, starting from the top one, make sure each clip is fully snapped on correctly BEFORE allowing any of the lower snaps to grab hold. Here's a link to Skandix's online instructions: https://www.skandix.de/en/documents/installation-guide/moulding-apillar-windscreen-drip-rail/3000453/ Good luck!

Question Posted by a customer
Help! The product pictured seems soft and flexible. Is this the rubber seal that goes between the painted plastic trim and the windshield? But the description makes this seem like the hard plastic A pillar trim. What is the part number for the replacement rubber trim? Thanks!
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
"Newly produced, rustproof trim strips for the A-pillar/roof edge on the right and left side of the windscreen." Please refer to the photos for more context as well. If you are looking for a specific part, please send your VIN to our Service Team, and we will locate it for you.
Question Posted by a customer
Will these fit an 03 V70 wagon with out roof rails?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Not without modification, since the strip ends right at the roof rail as seen in the photo.
