I could have installe dit wrong but it did start to leak but they re cheap so ill just buy another! it was good while it lasted.

Sealed previous leaks but word of cation when installing the pump on 940 raise the pump up all the way or the bolts will not pass through the gasket holes.

This Water pump gasket kit (including the top seal ring) is a great replacement kit for re-installing a Volvo red-block water pump. I personally coat both the paper gasket and the rubber seals with Permatex Blue RTV so that the gaskets / seals are completely covered on all surfaces/sides. While installing the paper gasket, the RTV fills any gaps or small tears that might occur as it's fitted or shifted into place (allows for easy slip as it's adjusted into position). The RTV on the rubber seals makes them impervious to oil contamination and failure. Explanation follows: Ok, let's be honest of why most people are buying this kit, the upper seal failed and now you're leaking coolant but you don't want to replace a water pump that's perfectly fine (mechanically speaking). The upper seal swelled from oil contamination that dripped down from the camshaft oil seal. Why? -because the camshaft oil seal is the one with the most tolerance to it and will leak first when you have high crankcase vapor pressure. Why do you have high crankcase vapor pressure? -because something in the crank case ventilation system is clogged or partially clogged and causes a restriction to the escaping blow-by gases (part of normal operation). If you're replacing this part (1336255 water pump upper seal), take a few minutes to clean or replace the flame trap housing (I personally don't run a screen in it), clean or replace the PCV hoses with good quality ones (not the cheap molded rubber ones that split in a year), and take the oil separator box off the car (two 12mm bolts) and clean out the upper vent port and the oil return port by reaming them out with a screwdriver and shaking out the baked / dried oil chunks. A complete cleaning of the PCV system should eliminate oil leaks from the camshaft oil seal behind the timing gear, and thus prevent future failures of this water pump seal. In almost 15 years of servicing Volvo red-block engines, I can't stress how important this procedure is. -and you'll eliminate most or all of the oil leaks on your engine in the process. Again, don't forget to completely cover this water pump upper seal in Permatex Blue RTV when you install it. You never know how long it will be before someone services the PCV system again, and it's cheap insurance against a seal failure and coolant loss.

I bought this kit to install on my old water pump (ending up replacing the pump) due to a leak at the inlet. Putting the pump on was tough, I ended up having to jack it up into place. This gasket was helpful, though, because it had round holes to go around the studs instead of rectangular openings that let the gasket move around. With this gasket, just stick it in place around the studs and it won't move all over the place on you while you get the pump into place, meaning you shouldn't have a gasket in the way of the other bolts when you try to screw them in.
