Product Information
Volvo has updated the design of this part, the outgoing design is 31430195 which has a large rubber area, which was superseded by 31682684 and then 32298950. They can be used interchangeably, and if you have a pre-2020 SPA chassis Volvo you can choose to use this design.
If your torque mount is completely crushed or torn, it may have damaged other mounts as well and the engine will be slightly out of position to line up the bolts. You may find success by positioning a floor jack under the engine to move it better into position. Hand thread the bolts gently on before final torque.
Torque:
- Upper torque rod to spring strut turret, 60 Nm
- Upper torque rod to engine mount bracket, 110 Nm
Engine mounts are designed to keep your engine and transmission supported and fixed to your vehicles frame or sub-frame without causing excessive vibrations that can enter the cabin. Engine mounts keep your drive-train properly aligned and if failed can promote drive train vibrations and premature component wear. Over time, your engine mounts deteriorate resulting in extra engine noise, engine rocking, a less enjoyable driving experience, and thus must be replaced.

I had to use a breaker bar to remove the 15 mm bolt. The rubber gasket on one of the 13 mm bolts did not come off when I removed the old part. The new part already comes with a rubber gasket on the bolt, so double check and remove the old gasket if it's still there. I also had to tighten the 13 mm bolts all the way in, before I could insert the 15 mm bolt. So far so food.
OEM part, perfect fit, and worked like a charm. upgraded from the older style in my '21 T8 with 50K miles. Noticed a slight bit of cracking in the plastic on the stock/original torque rod mount, and after the install, noticeably less engine rattle during acceleration. well worth the upgrade.
Parts fits very well and its very easy to install.
Part will fit 2016 & up models, with my 2017 I had to tighten the 13mm bolts, which are in the back all the way before I was able to line up the front 15mm bolt.
Super easy to swap and apparently a common failure on the SPA platform. I noticed the original was torn and this is a new upgraded replacement from Volvo.
I noticed that Volvo updated the original upper torque mount with this new design. My original mount was also very cracked and loose at 50,000 miles. That's pretty typical for all Volvo models through out the years. I'm sure the dealer would charge around $300 plus to change this out so it's nice to save that money and do the job yourself. It only takes about 10-15 minutes with hand tools. I couldn't find torque specs for the bolts but 37 ft lbs for the two 13 mm and 54 ft lbs for the larger 15 mm bolt should get you close. Two items I've added to my "every 50,000 miles service" for SPA Volvos are, this upper torque mount and the PCV oil trap.
Makes the engine feel more refined by not allowing as much movement as the old torque mount during high torque moments.
