Timing kit
I recommend replacing the VVT sprockets when replacing the chain. Remember to buy the timing cover gasket, new sprocket bolts, READ timing cover seal, rtv valve cover seal and all new valve cover bolts. Can absolutely be done in the engine bay. DIYer here. Just get the timing tool.

Timing Kit
Includes every part you need for the timing job on the short inline 6. FOR ANYONE ATTEMPTING THIS JOB if the coolant hose comes off the back of the back of the water pump spot don’t panic! You don’t need to remove the inner timing cover to get the hose back on simply press it back into place give it a firm tug to make sure it’s in place and screw the 2 bolts back on that hold the hose in place and all should work out.

Great kit, double check you have the other parts you’ll need.
Kit worked great but as Michael’s review also stated you should double check what’s included. If you’re doing the timing chain job then you’re going to want the cam seals and the crank seal which have to be destroyed when removing so you can lock the cams and crank in place. These are not shown on the valve train diagram so look for these parts… Oder qty 2 of the cam seals: 31251117 And 1 of the crank seals: 30637986 [Reply: These have been added to the kit, thanks for the feedback - FCP Euro]

Timing Chain Kit
Great kit, it reduces the headache of ordering the timing chain pieces individually. I would like to have seen a more complete kit with the three water pipe o-rings and all the inner timing cover seals. More so for those of us who are replacing READ units or resealing the timing cover to remedy oil leaks at higher mileage. Overall very pleased!!!

What is the recommended mileage for replacing the Timing Chain on these engines?

There is no common recommended mileage for replacing the timing chain on these engines, it should all last the life of the car, 300+k miles. The usual reason for needing this kit is if an engine was neglected for too long with a faulty bearing or oiling issue, where the chain and guides may not be properly aligned or lubricated. In general, both the 3.2NA and 3.0T engines will never need a timing service.
