How Can I Determine If I Have a TRW, ZF, or Cam Gear Rack

You can determine what type of Rack & Pinon was originally installed on the car by locating a service plate found on the Trunk frame or Door pillar. It will list many different components, with one being the Steering Gear. On this plate, to the right of the words steering gear you will see a number - 2345. The numbers 2, 4, or 5 designates a Cam Gear rack was used, number 3 designates a ZF rack was used.

Steering Tie Rod End Kit

The tie rods of your vehicle play a critical role as they're the link between the power steering rack and pinion and the wheel spindle. Tie rod ends contain ball joints that tend to wear out over time due to constant wear and tear. When the ball joints within the tie rod wear out, it allows for play within the wheels which can throw off your alignment and cause uneven tire wear. Its always encouraged to check your tie rod ends for play as well as tires for uneven wear at every service interval. When replacing worn tie rod ends its always recommend to replace them in pairs as well as to perform an alignment.

When this kit is sold individually, it appears to come with metal band clamps, though this kit is pictured with what looks like plastic zip ties. Must we purchase the parts individually to get the metal band clamps?

Sorry, the photo was outdated. These all come with zip ties now, even from Genuine Volvo (deemed metal clamps unnecessary for the application). We don't currently have sizing to offer metal band clamps for this kit.
