This left hand taillight assembly comes in OE Magneti Marelli, and includes the mounting gasket. It does not come with bulbs or carrier.

actual factory OE part
These are the exact OE taillights that was on my C30 I'm replacing due to hail damage.

I note compared to the Volvo rear light assembly that this does not come with bulbs or carrier. What is the (bulb) carrier and how is it transferred from the old light assembly to the new assembly?

The bulb carrier is the removable bulb holder/socket plate that holds the tail light bulbs and connects them to the vehicle wiring. This Magneti Marelli tail light assembly does not include the bulbs or bulb carrier, so those pieces are reused from the original light if they are still in good condition.
