  • If vehicle is equipped with Automatic Headlamp Adjusters/ Headlamp Leveling System, you must also order a 999362 Rivet Nut when replacing this Control Arm for the mounting of the Level Sensor Bracket.
  • This control arm features a stiffer durometer bushing for use with the sport R-Design package.
Suspension Control Arm

Control arms are crucial link in a vehicle's suspension connecting the suspension to a vehicle's subframe. These pieces are usually hinged to allow for suspension to travel and articulate as the vehicle rides over obstructions in the road and while the vehicle turns. Many vehicles such as those with independent suspensions have multiple links and feature several connection points and arms to offer better ride quality and comfort.

As bushings and joints in a control arm begin to wear you may notice a looseness feel in your suspension. And while many arms have replaceable and serviceable individual components, many still require the replacement of the entire arm. Below are signs of when a replacement control arm may be needed:

Suspension Control Arm Failure Symptoms
  • Play in suspension joints where these arms meet the subframe and/or knuckle
  • Buckling noise emanating from the suspension
  • Uneven tire wear
  • Inability to properly align vehicle
  • Shutter or vibration coming from the steering wheel at highway speed
  • Wandering or pulling sensation from side to side felt on the steering wheel

Perfect fit for 2008 Volvo C30 T5 V2.0
First off, for those dumbfounded by what control arm to get for your C30, basically if you have either an R-design, the sport suspension option, or a SPECIFICALLY 2008 C30 V2.0 (since these were the r-design before the r-design existed) than this is the control arm you get. I'm fairly positive other aftermarket arms will fit since the bolt for this one is specifically larger and a smaller bolt will simply fit right in to the ball joint hole in the steering knuckle, however the sport arm is both beefier and specifically designed for the lower suspension geometry of the sport suspension. Other than that, part quality was great, prep and install was easy and straight forward with help of the FCP video, and they're performing great 500 miles later. Got rid of the swaying under throttle and greatly improved handling. Still chasing a slight rattle over small bumps in the front that I was hoping was coming from the control arm, so for that particular problem the search continues!
