A shock absorber kit is a set of replacement components designed to restore a vehicle's suspension system. It typically includes shock absorbers along with essential parts like mounting hardware and seals. These components work together to dampen the suspension by controlling the rebounding motion of the springs. Signs of a failing shock absorber include a bouncy ride, excessive body roll during cornering, nose-diving when braking, uneven tire wear, and sometimes visible fluid leaks from the shock.

This kit was fantastic and comes with just about everything you would need to refresh the front end of your S60. I had also purchased a set of Lesjofors springs to have everything needed. (Depending on your car you can reuse the old springs.) Front end has never felt better!
Assuming your springs are fine, this is everything you will need to refresh your P3 Volvo struts. (Why not also do sway bar end links since you're there anyway?) Special tools you may need: A Spindle Housing Spreader Socket - CTA 4005 (from FCP) as it is helpful in removing the strut tube from the knuckle. Also consider a 18mm Strut Nut Socket CTA 3039X03. Note: a Volvo Strut Tool - CTA A446 will NOT work for this P3 strut assembly.
Because the springs on the P3 XC70 are so beefy, I declined to use a borrowed spring compressor and instead had a local shop rebuild the struts with FCP parts. Safety is the better part of valor sometimes and I still got the job done at significant savings with high-quaility parts. Note: You can do this job without taking apart the control arm ball joint, as long as you are able to raise the car high enough and use an OTC 6007 Lower Control Arm Prying Tool and pry bar to depress the control arm enough to allow the strut spindle to seat in the knuckle.
