The Product plate can be found on the side of the battery under the hood.
Position 21 will determine which Power Steering Rack and Pinion design your vehicle is equipped with.
7 Digits all, or 8 digits Marked 4 = TRW
8 digits Marked 5 = SMI
The tie rods of your vehicle play a critical role as they're the link between the power steering rack and pinion and the wheel spindle. Tie rod ends contain ball joints that tend to wear out over time due to constant wear and tear. When the ball joints within the tie rod wear out, it allows for play within the wheels which can throw off your alignment and cause uneven tire wear. Its always encouraged to check your tie rod ends for play as well as tires for uneven wear at every service interval. When replacing worn tie rod ends its always recommend to replace them in pairs as well as to perform an alignment.

It does the job well. No need to over spend. Great fit, and finish. My part was made in Turkey, but no quality issue here at all.
FITS AND WORKS GREAT, EAST TO ALIGN THE CAR!
So I ordered the control arm kit that comes with the outer tie rods, but not these. If you going to change all the other parts, must do these while you in there since these are part of the system. Easy in and out.

The part has the same shape as OEM, but looks only very slightly less proud, and was made in Turkey and has "Meyle 2167" stamped on the rod. Neither TRW nor "4" are anywhere to be found on the package. It will likely do the trick but is not marked as indicated.

Volvo is nice and tight now.
i did these just because i was replacing the outer tie rods as well and sometimes with a car this old it is difficult to separate the two. it made a huge difference in the handling.
It should be noted for weekend mechanics, like myself, that you'll probably want to replace the bellows boot with this part. Didn't think about it until I was about to start the job.
I installed these on my 1996 Volvo 850 just earlier today. Installation was extremely easy with the right tools. It's the removal that had me pulling my hair out. If you're replacing the inner and outer tie rods, replace the boot as well. I didn't, and the nut between the inner and outer tie rod was seized on there so tight I had to cut the end of the inner tie rod off so I could get the boot off and reuse it (use a large zip tie to secure the boot in place). Also, these aren't gold in color, they're silver. And they came with a new adjuster nut. It worked great on the short drive I went on this evening.
Make sure to get a "Inner Tie Rod Removal Tool - CTA-4014" if you don't have one. I don't think I could've done it without this tool because the original inner tie rod is round and there's no where you can put a wrench on it, so you need this tool to put some serious torque on it. It worked effortlessly.
If you're not sure what kind of rack and pinion you have, just look at the inner tie rod boot. Mine said TRW and VOLVO on the end of it. If you see TRW on yours, this is what you need.
