See my previous review. This precious nugget is not perfect. I bought these and replaced my 2008 Volvo s60 2.5t 5cyl's s.plugs.
But also this nugget is paranoid because I'm new to car self maintenance. I rechecked the product description shortly after replacing and realized I made a mistake and these are for NON-TURBO engines only. I should have been more diligent and a bit more smart because the plugs look physically different (tri-pronged instead of the original uni-pronged). So learn from my mistake. If the plugs don't look the same, triple check before buying. The plugs should look the same. So if you have a turbo engine, get the correct ones! Luckily, no damage to my car and I now have the correct ones in.
I have a 2008 Volvo s60 2.5T 5cyl AWD.
So what's a precious little nugget supposed to do when their Prius gets totaled, then buys a used 2008 volvo s60?
Well, one thing is realizing how dependent some people are on having a vehicle. A person's livelihood can be their car - as was this nugget's life. But this nugget never worked on their car before. And it's not good to not know how a tool works, let alone a tool that a nugget uses every single day. So, what's a precious nugget to do? What are YOU supposed to do?
Decide that enough is enough and take all routine maintenance into their own hands - experience be damned. Watch lots of FCPeuro and ChrisFix videos. Buy the parts. And have at it. Slowly, cautiously, and relaxed.
If this precious little nugget can do it (and I did! I did it!) - so can you! If anything, I recommend you getting a spark plug socket so that it grips the s.plug easier (little story: the insert for my s.plug socket came out as I was trying to loosen the plugs. It got stuck with the s.plugs, and being extra cautious I didn't know what to do. I eventually pushed the socket with a bit more force to get the insert back into the socket which worked and from then on it was smooth sailing. So just keep going slow and cautious. Roll with the unexpected. That scared me though because I didn't know how to get it out at first. Ha!)
Now I have new s.plugs! Yay!
Having a naturally aspirated base model engine with over 400k miles as a daily driver, these are the only plugs I use. My Volvo dealer mechanic told me years ago that given my car uses a little bit of oil, these plugs will get hot enough to burn it off. This engine leaves no blue smoke. These plugs are a bargain.
Great quality. Don't think I would have been able to find these funky looking plugs anywhere in Aus!
These work bettter than the last set of "Genuine Volvo" plugs I took out. My wagon has not run this well in a long time.

I noticed that the Electrode Gap for these plugs is 1.2 mm and are not adjustable, however the service manual for the 1994 Volvo 850 (2.5L NA) says that the gap should be 0.9 mm for a single prong Bosch FR7 D+. Does this multi-prong design mean that the electrode gap can be greater? Or does is this sparkplug different in someway that compensates for the difference in gap?

Due to the multiprong design, the actual gap can be difficult to judge, it doesn't translate to the gap on a standard single-electrode plug. Since these are the OE plugs for this car, same as genuine, the service manual you are referencing may be giving alternate options for more commonly available sparkplugs (at the time). Be confident that these will work perfectly out of the box, our customers have great things to say about these.

Are these pre-gappped and do they need any kind of anti-seize applied to the threads before installation?

Yes, these are ready to install, and actually aren't able to be gapped easily due to the three prong design. Do not use anti-seize on spark plug threads, but it is a good idea to put a light coat of dielectric grease on the ceramic portion and connector of the spark plug.
