A Seat Belt Receptacle (also called a seat belt buckle) is the part of a vehicle’s seat belt system that receives and locks the seat belt tongue (the metal latch plate at the end of the webbing). It is usually mounted on or beside the seat and contains a spring-loaded locking mechanism to securely hold the belt in place during normal driving and, most importantly, during a crash.

• Seat belt won’t latch – the tongue will not lock into the buckle.
• Seat belt gets stuck – difficulty releasing the latch when pressing the button.
• Intermittent latching – sometimes locks, sometimes doesn’t, which is dangerous.
