Volvo Remote Control Cover - ProParts Sweden 31300258

For this price, I shouldn't have to manipulate the key fob case at all in order to make it work. The other reviewer was absolutely correct and even following his guidance, I could not get the circuit board to function properly. The engine started without an issue but had to revert back to my worn OEM key fob and now everything works as it should.

My old remote shell was really showing its age, so I ordered this shell as a replacement. I knew going in that this would be a tricky and delicate swap, but I underestimated how delicate the electronics really were. Disassembly of the old remote took far longer than assembling the new one, with the glued edges giving the most trouble. The only flaws with the new remote are: 1. The circuit board is not properly immobilized. The official Volvo shell has a tiny lip that the board latches into, but the new shell does not have this lip. I instead used a few drops of CA glue in the corners to keep the board in place. 2. The transmitter stem is too thick to fit in the ignition cylinder. I carefully filed the stem until it fit into the ignition. I took off a little under 1mm to make it fit. If you can overlook these minor flaws, this Pro Parts Sweden shell is really well designed, with little pins for glue and high quality materials throughout. Be patient, and you will be extremely satisfied with the end result.
