Your radiator is an integral, and arguably, the most important part of the cooling system. It is designed to expel heat from the coolant via the small fins. Most radiators fail when the end tanks crack causing leaks, but higher mileage radiators which have missing or bent fins often are clogged up with debris which can also cause overheating issues as the radiator cannot expel heat effectively. If your radiator is in rough shape we recommend replacing it. We also highly recommend inspecting/replacing the upper and lower radiator hose at that time.

I've replaced a lot of P2 radiators over the years but this was the first on my own car. The fitment in the car is fine but I had some trouble with the slots for the lower section of the fan. I had to use a tool to carefully spread them so the fan would slide in. Not the end of the world, but I don't remember ever having to do that before. I only installed this yesterday and I've put maybe 20 miles on my car since, so I can't speak to longevity of this radiator but it's doing fine in the 110 degree desert heat so far.
Works perfectly, much cheaper than the genuine option. It's best to replace both the radiator and the cooling fan together, because when my fan went out it caused the old radiator to blow and dump its coolant on the freeway.
The fan can be removed without removing the radiator, from the top, just need to remove hoses and cap off dipstick for clearance.
just back off the 2 radiator long bolts until they are flush with frame, this drops the 2 bolts that need to be removed (allows access to remove). then just lift the fan, as for radiator removal needs to be removed from bottom. You don't have to lower the inner cooler and ac condenser just use flat strap to tie them together and secure in place use the extra length of the strap to help lower the radiator and to raise the replacement (one man team)...don't rush it for the DIY's clean up the rust and wipe the under carriage show your vehicle some love all they need is love some more than others Volvo repairs are challenging at times.
XC90 use jack stands is a must!!! you don't have to remove the passenger side wheel, just raise the vehicle (front right wheel) about 4 inch is enough with OE jack
The task was removing the skid plate 6 12mm screws. "I saved a nice chuck of change" radiator was free delivery and priced nice.
Better quality than OE. Plastic sides are thicker and have more glass fiber reinforcement. The bushings it comes with are fine, take them or leave them. There are 50 tubes where the OE has 52 but the difference seems negligible.

I just installed the radiator so I can't comment on its longevity but so far so good. You will need to transfer over a few things from your old one as this one does not include everything. In particular, the two squarish rubber inserts that go on the top (where the guide pins insert into) were not included with mine. Neither was one of the threaded inserts on the lower driver's side portion where the transmission cooler attaches. Do yourself a favor and spend a solid 10 minutes comparing the new one to the old and make sure you have everything you need carried over.
I continue to be impressed with Nissens products. Arrived in perfect condition and looked to be high quality. Have had it in the car for about a year with no problems.

Does this include the metal anti-crush inserts like OEM within the intake/outlet to prevent crushing/cracking of the plastic hose connections?
