  • Some transmission fluid will be lost due to the cooler being housed in the transmission. Don't forget to order the correct transmission fluid for your model to top up.
  • Features updated design cooling ports that may look different from the part coming off the car
  • For vehicles with Manual transmissions, Volvo specifies to leave the cooler connections open.
  • Don't forget to order the best quality coolant.
  • The bushings are placed in the mounting brackets on each end.
  • If installing with screw/worm clamps, DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN or you may crack the plastic housing.
Radiator

Your radiator is an integral, and arguably, the most important part of the cooling system. It is designed to expel heat from the coolant via the small fins. Most radiators fail when the end tanks crack causing leaks, but higher mileage radiators which have missing or bent fins often are clogged up with debris which can also cause overheating issues as the radiator cannot expel heat effectively. If your radiator is in rough shape we recommend replacing it. We also highly recommend inspecting/replacing the upper and lower radiator hose at that time.

Nissens radiator
While removing the failed radiator, I discovered the little plastic drain valve doesn’t work worth a………..bleep. What mess. I’m going to try the CSF radiator. Budget doesn’t allow the $800 all aluminum model.

Nissens Radiator 31319056
Wish I purchased the Volvo radiator... I hope it lasts. You get what you pay for! The hose collars are thin and not reinforced with steel, and like the other reviewers state the mounts for the nuts and radiator fan are slightly distorted. It is as if the plastic is not cooled long enough in production and they sag a little as they cool, poor quality control. Again, for the time spent, I hope it lasts.

AMAZING replacement from the original almost 20 year old radiator. It was $40 more then aftermarket but well worth the extra for longevity!

Nissens Radiator 31319056
Very nice replacement unit. The transmission cooler fitting are an upgrade from the OEM style. The Coolant hose in/out are a slight downgrade as they do not have the inner metal support sleeves. Just make sure you do not over tighten the coolant hoses.

Perfect Replacement
Replaced my old radiator that cracked at the upper hose part in my 06 S60R. Perfect fit and very well made.

Decent part overall
Pros: The radiator was constructed of glass fiber reinforced nylon and felt very sturdy and well constructed. Shipping was absurdly fast, and the install was easy and went perfectly. I didn't lose enough transmission fluid to even change the level in the car, so you might hold off on proactively purchasing it. Cons: The bolt retaining inserts (little square things with a threaded hole) may give you some minor trouble. One of them didn't fit because there wasn't enough clearance for it to into its slot (manufacturing defect). This was easily remedied by using a screwdriver to scratch a wider groove.

I have a 2001 V70 XC, The video with Ben is a radiator removal from a 1996 P80. Is there a P2 radiator removal video out there that I can reference? There are some clear differences in the P80 intercooler hoses, radiator fan shroud, the bottom splash shield and mounting bolts, the transmission cooler lines, etc vs the P2s. Is the radiator 'sandwich' the same and can I pull it out from the top after angling forward as Ben did? The mounting hardware for the 'sandwich' also looks different on the P2 setup? Appreciate any guidance you can provide! Thanks - Tim

So it would be a different procedure in this application and come out from the bottom. We do not have a DIY video specially for this application, however there is a video from TRQ listed below that walk you through how to do it. Searching through the listed vehicle fitment. The 2006 2.5T 4t2 S60 is listed, but the AWD is not. Although the radiator looks the exact same as mine, I do trust your fitment list.

Hi, thank you for the question. This is correct for your vehicle. Some fitments show AWD in them because that's the trim level showing. We won't differentiate AWD or FWD in the notes unless the fitments are affected by those options specifically.

This unit does in fact have the tube for the overflow tank just like the original Volvo unit.
