IMORTANT NOTE:
If the pressure fitting is different, you must re-use the fitting from the original power steering pump. There will be a new O-ring supplied and it must be installed and fitted properly to prevent leaks or loss of power steering.
Power steering pumps pressurize the fluid in the steering hydraulic system to allow for steering assist at slow road speeds. The power steering system is powered by the engine via a serpentine or v belt which spins the pump pulley. Power steering pumps are generally a lifetime component.
However, poor power steering system maintenance, old power steering fluid, and incorrect power steering fluid can cause the pump to fail prematurely. If your power steering pump is screaming or chirping when you are turning the wheels you may need to replace it.
