Power Brake Booster

Your vehicles brake booster is designed to provide power assistance to the braking system. On most cars, the brake booster uses engine vacuum to do this. However, many modern cars use an auxiliary vacuum pump to provide vacuum to the brake booster.

The brake booster is in line between the brake pedal and brake master cylinder. It essentially amplified the force applied to the pedal by your foot and outputs more braking force in the hydraulic braking system. This makes braking your vehicle a much less physical task.

When a brake booster is failing you may notice that braking effort increases. the engine runs poorly or stalls with force on the brake pedal, or the relative resting position of the brake pedal has changed. In these cases it is recommended to inspect the hoses leading to the brake booster as well as the brake booster itself. If the brake booster is in fact faulty it is highly recommended to replace it as soon as possible.

Brake Booster

Solved multiple issues - 02 S60 AWD
Old booster had the typical hiss from the seal in the cabin. It would also make a inhaling sound when accelerating and a whoosh sound when letting off the pedal. The worst issue was it causing the car to run lean without throwing any fault codes or CEL. Anytime the air temp was above 70F, pinging would occur and the ecu would adjust the timing causing the engine to bog. Had to run premium fuel and keep the AC off to just keep the pinging to a minimum. Once the new booster was installed, all stated issues went away and the car runs on regular fuel in hot weather with the AC on with zero issues!

OEM was all meta. This replacement was a plastic shell. Install and fitment was perfect. My issue went away after the part was swapped. Lifetime warranty, yes please.

Same as OE
Replaced mine after the seal started leaking. Pulled out the old and this is the same brand as the OE was. Be careful not to use too much torque when removing or the stud will break from the housing.

It Brakes! No hissing noise!
What can I say? Repair is a pain in the a** but doable as a DIYler. Brakes perfectly and the annoying hissing noise under the brake pedal is gone for good. Nice product.

This booster was a perfect fit for my 2003 Volvo V70 2.4L base, and was exactly the same as the original part. It fit right in place of the original Volvo booster with no issues.

I know this can cause an engine to stall. But can it only happen when the engine is completely warm up?
