Pro Parts Parking Brake Cable Does Not Work.

Piece of crap. Fitted these to find they jam on the back of the wheel/tire. Measured the part against OE part removed to find it is 16" long from the hub to the mounting Torx screw, OE Volvo is 17.5". This does not allow the cable to bend out of the way. I was also reminded on FWD cars there should be a plastic hoop and rivet to pull the cable away from the wheel and rivet into a small hole on the side of the trailing arm portion of the axle between the 2 points. The Pro-Parts part pulls out of the rear hub if you try to force it back that far. It sits 1.5" from where it needs to be! Ordered OE parts and FCP credited me for the Pro-Parts parts. Not sure how anyone gave these a 4/5* rating unless this is a faulty batch. Looking forward to re-doing all the work.

Looks The Same But Beware The Location Of The Mid Cable Attachment

This job takes a good amount of time, but is not difficult. This particular cable appeared to be exactly the same as the original seized one on my car; however, once installed I could not reattach it with the riveted cable tie to the rear suspension because there was not enough slack in the rear section of the cable to do so. The overall length of the cable is the same as the original, but the placement of the mid-cable attachment to the frame (with the torx screw) must be located wrong. I took a chance and didn't attach it to the suspension frame and it looked like the tire rotated fine without touching the cable. The problem is that if the parking brake is applied while the car is moving, the cable shifts position and touches the tire. My short test drive abraded the cable sheathing. The brake still works, but I need to find a way to secure the cable out of the way. Not ideal! Bottom line is that this is not a simple replacement and this part should fit as intended without this frustration.

A weak spot on the car... Would replace BOTH at the same time if you like to yank on the parking brake... which you do if you are replacing this part!!! Problem is replacing the pop-riveted retaining clip that keeps the cable away from the wheel. I used a bunch of draw ties instead.

The cable worked great as a replacement to my seized up cables. As a note to anyone installing these cables do be careful when working the rubber boot through the floorboard. Initially attempted to pull it through from inside the car and the boot started to tear. Switched to pushing it through from underneath the car to avoid further damage and with some water based lubricant it fit right in.

Pex Parking Brake Cable

The rubber boot that fits in the hole in the floorboard was made of inferior rubber or hard plastic and did not even resemble the factory boot which was made of very pliable rubber. The photo is misleading as it shows the factory boot. The replacement boot was also larger in diameter and i could not secure it in the hole. The smaller end of the boot broke while I tried to fit it in. I had to reuse the boot from the old cable which was a time consuming task.

Better Then Expected

Ordered these knowing they were just the cheap URO parts. Turns out, the current supplier that FCP is shipping out is Professional Parts Sweden. Pro Parts Sweden, in my opinion is a much better manufacture the URO is. Very nice quality cables!
